Dr. Gerber worked as a scientific staff member for the research group Work and Engineering Psychology from 15th July 2012 – 11th November 2020. He completed his doctorate with the title “Privatsphäre, gibt’s da nicht 'ne App für? – Verbesserung von Privatsphäre-relevantem Verhalten durch bessere Informationen” (in English: “Privacy, isn't there an app for that? – Improving privacy-relevant behaviour through better information”) in October 2017 and has been working as a doctoral researcher in the FAI since then. His work focused on the areas of (mobile) digital privacy and product evaluation. He worked in the CRISP IP2 and IP3 projects on secure and privacy-friendly authentication and the design of smart homes.

In recent years, he worked together with the Department of Computer Science on Certified Security of Mobile Applications (ZertApps; 2014-2015) and on the psychological modelling of behavioural factors in the context of the “Privacy Paradox” (MoPPa – Modelling the Privacy Paradox from a Technical and Psychological Perspective; 2015-2017). Furthermore, he also cooperated with the Department of Mechanical Engineering regarding cockpit design and evaluation of low-cost collision warning systems in the context of air sports (2012-2013).
